Our founder and lead guide, Lisa Honan, has a wealth of experience in both diplomacy and tourism, making her the perfect person to show you around this vibrant and complex city.

Lisa's career began in the civil service, where she spent two years filing papers about the UK's development program in Nepal. Little did she know that by the end of her career she would be the Head of Development in Nepal and, for a time, Acting Ambassador of the UK in Nepal. By this time she had worked her way up from the lowest ranks. After leaving the Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office (FCDO) in July 2021, Lisa decided to switch to history and tourism and became a City of London guide.

Lisa has always had a passion for history, particularly the history of London. . After passing the City’s prestigious Green Badge guiding course in 2022, she was thrilled to become a formally qualified City of London guide.

During her time in St Helena as Governor, Lisa discovered the fascinating history of the East India Company, which had once owned the island. This piqued her interest in the Company's history in London and led her to research the Company's association with various locations in the City of London. She was by the way, the first - and so far only - woman Governor in St Helena’s 500 years of history.
